Majoring in Chinese Ink Painting from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and a Masters in Fine Arts from Norwich University of the Arts on the study of Cognitive Interpretations, Emotionalism > Transpersonal theories In Creative Arts, Seah creates art that is an extraction of images and symbols which tell a story from the subconscious combined with situational circumstance and emotional awareness.
By teaching stains, strokes and traditional drawing methods infused with contemporary art making and movement techniques, Seach develops performance and art programs that teaches exploration and self-discovery which pushes his students to think and feel while creating and developing their own narrative and signature style in their creative journey.
Winning the Harvard book prize and the Tan Chin Tuan scholarship for Creative Education In 2019 and the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Arts and Cultural awards for 1917-18.
Seah has also participated in exhibitions worldwide. From “Salton Sea” exhibition in Palm Springs “One Self ” exhibition at the World Trade Centre in New York City to “Along the Edge” in Hong Kong.
Seah has also represented Singapore at the Berlin Light Festival in 2017 and 2018 also winning the TOP prize at the Antwerp International Art Competition in Belgium in 2017 and 2nd prize at the “Mind over Matter” International art competition held in London.
Before returning to Singapore Seah participated in various exhibitions in Doncaster, Nottingham and Norwich in the United Kingdom.
Having over 25 years of experience in design, performing arts, and the media industries, Seah also teach and conduct workshops and seminars about art concepts > methodologies combining both performance and fine arts. Besides conducting art and performance workshops in primary, secondary and junior collages, Seah also volunteer at the Singapore Children Society, Indio Orphanages in India and other underprivileged and marginalized societies.
In February 2020 Seah was invited to give a seminar about his artistic journey at the prestigious Marble Hall in Norwich UK. Seah will always explore, experiment and combine different mediums, performances and various creative art forms to develop art and create a creative bubble that can cross all boundaries, embrace cultures and definitions and constantly ask questions, defy norms and traditions while also making it accessible to educate and ultimately effect the soul and emotions of his audience.
Artist Statement
Ernest Seah has always been in love with art, colour > design being in the the Arts and Design field since the 1980s . Also know as Butter Seah. Having performed on broadway , television > movie screens to lead interior designer for Ethan Allen in New York and Art Director for various High Fashion Fashion Brand’s and Magazines. Starting out as a make up artist and a couture clothing designer at 16, Ernest has always loved Colour, Texture and Details and how humans see and relate to them.
Ernest Seah believes strongly in education. Sharing his knowledge > experiences in the many diverse creative industries and his particular set of skills for enrichment, training,holistic > therapy work. He has provided classes, workshops and lectures to the terminally ill, less fortunate > marginalised societies. Also teaching creative development, performance and presentational courses to major corporate organisations and private > public institutions from USA, Europe > Asia.
Majoring in Chinese ink, Ernest makes use of the traditional Chinese brush strokes techniques while exploring contemporary and unconventional mediums > methodologies like marks and stains with detailed angular line, stripes, smudges, doodling to lights, sound, digital, augmented vids and physical performance and in his creative works.

Studying positive and negative spaces .His creations are always textured with stories of hidden meanings and treasures. Sometimes not clear to everyone but the rainbows and unicorns hidden in his unique creations are worth searching for. Art lovers > his private collectors have called it disillusion or Abstraction Doodling art which Ernest Seah proudly embraces as his speciality > uniqueness.
